Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on House passage of H.Res. 847, expressing the sense of the House on a national strategy for the Internet of Things:

“The rapid pace of innovation is changing the way we work, learn, and live our lives. These advancements offer increased productivity and opportunity for all Americans. Technology is now ingrained in our daily lives with advanced transportation systems, health care options, energy networks, and more all linked together. These resources have come to be known as the Internet of Things, and they are fundamental to modern life and economic growth. While the private sector has led this innovation, our government has been slow to acknowledge its potential as the foundation for a stronger 21st century economy and a modernized federal government. Today, the House took an important step towards a national strategy to keep America the innovation capital of the world.”
