My dad, Owen McCarthy, was a fireman. He loved the fire department.
When he was 58 years old, he lost his life to cancer. His last three years, he just battled. But even in his battle with cancer, he was always positive—always laughing.
One day when he was taking his chemo, and he had his IV, the fire department came by because they had a call. The next thing I know, I saw my father riding the fire truck with his IV, taking a ride down the street. You could never take the fireman out of him.
This Father’s Day, I hope you cherish the time you have with your father. And from my family to yours, happy Father’s Day.
