The Obama Administration reportedly counted as many as 400,000 stand-alone dental plans in their September enrollment statistics, inflating the number of enrollees over the seven million benchmark the Administration set. That means instead of enrolling 7.3 million people in health insurance as of last September, Obamacare only enrolled 6.97 million. Based on the Administration’s enrollment figure of 8.1 million in May 2014, that means over 1.1 million individuals signed up for Obamacare and dropped coverage between May and August.

In past statistics, the Administration separated medical and dental insurance statistics, and the widely-cited enrollment numbers were only supposed to reflect actual medical insurance. But by combining the numbers together with no warning, the Administration increased their numbers artificially in order to reach their enrollment goals.

Jonathan Gruber, an architect of Obamacare, said that a “lack of transparency is a huge political advantage” that helped for Democrats to pass Obamacare, a law that is becoming more and more unpopular. It seems that this Administration’s habit of obfuscation continues long after the failed health care law has passed.
