Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on House passage of H.R. 5711, prohibiting financial institutions from financing exports of aircraft to Iran:

“Beyond extending congressional sanction authorities against Iran—which the House voted on earlier this week—today we voted to bar U.S. financial institutions, including the Export-Import Bank, from financing aircraft sales to Iran. American taxpayers should never subsidize the sale of aircraft to a regime that is a state sponsor of terror and will likely use those aircraft to further their regional ambitions. We cannot reward Iran as it continues to undermine regional stability.”
