Energy, Climate, and Conservation (ECC) Task Force Member Lead Rep. Garret Graves (R-LA) joined Task Force Member Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) on his podcast, Hold These Truths, to discuss the ECC Task Force’s policy rollout of ‘Beat China and Russia.’

The Biden administration’s attack on American energy—which began on his first day in office—has increased our reliance on adversaries like China and Russia and made our allies less secure. House Republicans have a plan that will help provide the American people with affordable, reliable, and clean energy without enriching our adversaries like China and Russia.

During the podcast, Graves blasted the Biden administration’s flawed energy strategy which has mainly benefited our adversaries. For example, during President Biden’s first year in office, he nearly tripled our dependence upon Russian oil and just last week he rolled back tariffs on Chinese solar panels that are often made utilizing slave labor.

“Their entire policy portfolio is a gift to other countries,” Graves said. “And I’d love to tell you that these countries that are being gifted right now are allies, but they’re not. These are countries that all have an axe to grind against the United States, and I have never in my life seen such flawed energy policies.”

Graves also criticized the lack of a cohesive energy strategy from the Biden administration to produce and manufacture the critical minerals needed for renewable technologies.

He said, “This administration, while they’re out there telling the American people they want to move in a renewable energy direction, they’re refusing to take any of the steps that actually allow Americans to benefit from those jobs and economic activity – and this is just cutting checks to China left and right because they’re the ones who have the critical minerals and all of the manufacturing for these renewable energy technologies.”

Crenshaw echoed this by pointing out how the Biden administration canceled two federal permits to mine in Minnesota and halted a mine in Arizona.

Crenshaw said, “The Left loves to talk about more green energy and more batteries and more of all of these things that require a substantive amount of rare earth minerals, but they don’t want to produce them ourselves.”
