Greenville, California – Congressman Doug LaMalfa (CA-01) delivered this week’s Republican Address from the scene of the rampant wildfires in Northern California. Right now, the Dixie Fire is burning across 780 square miles, and has destroyed most of downtown Greenville.

“What we need is positive forest management. That means simple things, like clearing along roadways so there are trees that won’t catch fire from vehicle traffic. It means clearing around power lines. The Dixie Fire started because a green, healthy, tree fell into a power line amidst an overcrowded forest of dry trees and dry brush,” Congressman LaMalfa said. “This doesn’t need to happen, yet it keeps happening. We need the American public to understand this and get behind the several pieces of [bipartisan] legislation introduced by House Republicans that will solve this issue.”
