House Democrats’ priorities were made clear this week as they worked to undermine election integrity and defund the police while neglecting the unfolding crisis at the border.

Democrats Voted To Undermine Election Integrity “For The Politicians”

House Democrats passed H.R. 1 — a bill “for the politicians.” This bill would allow federal tax dollars to fund political campaigns, outlaw voter ID, impose mass mail-in voting, legalize ballot harvesting, restrict states and localities from maintaining accurate voter rolls, and more.

Federalizing all elections does not inspire confidence, it undermines election integrity.

They also kept the Swamp swampy by blocking House Administration Committee Ranking Member Rodney Davis’ (IL-13) motion to recommit that would strike all provisions that provide federal financing for political campaigns by a vote of 219-210.

Rep. Davis said, “If signed into law, H.R. 1 would be the greatest expansion of the federal government’s role in our elections than we’ve ever seen before. By moving these decisions to Washington, DC, we’re further removing people from the laws that govern their elections.”

H.R. 1 is nothing short of a power-grab “for the politicians” — not “for the people.”

Democrats Return To Their Plan To Defund The Police

Standing up for good cops who protect our communities should not be a partisan issue. They risk their lives every day to keep us safe. Unfortunately, Democrats continue to embrace the call to defund the police. They voted 219-208 against a motion to recommit that would have made clear that movements to defund, disband, dismantle, or abolish the police have no place in the United States.

In remarks on the House Floor in support of the motion to recommit, Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11) issued a direct challenge to the House Democrat caucus: “You say you don’t support defunding the police? Well, here’s your chance to show it!”

They made their position clear in passing H.R. 1280. This bill will make communities less safe and will drain the resources of state and local governments by several million dollars.

As the Daily Wire pointed out, House Democrats were given a chance to stand on the side of law enforcement but chose instead to defund the police.

Leader McCarthy Calls For Meeting With President Biden To Discuss The Crisis At The Border

The Biden Administration is in denial. After reversing Trump era policies that helped to reduce illegal border crossings, a crisis of Biden’s own making is unfolding at the border.

With 117,000 unaccompanied migrant children expected by the end of the year and bed space already nearing capacity, now is the time to recognize the reality of this crisis and take action.

In a letter to the president, Leader McCarthy requested a meeting to discuss the crisis that Biden has yet to acknowledge.

“We must acknowledge the crisis, develop a plan, and, in no uncertain terms, strongly discourage individuals from Mexico and Central America from ever making the dangerous journey to our southern border,” Leader McCarthy wrote.

Jeh Johnson, who served as President Obama’s DHS secretary, characterized 1,000 apprehensions per day as a border crisis. Under President Biden, Border Patrol is inundated with 3,000 apprehensions per day.

President Biden and DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas must recognize this crisis for what it is. Telling the world, as Secretary Mayorkas did, that “we are not saying don’t come” is the wrong approach. The Biden administration must make clear there is never a “right time” to enter the country illegally.
