Our community has really gone through it this week. First with the 6.4 earthquake on Thursday, and then with the 7.1 that came last night. I was born and raised in Kern County, and it’s one of the biggest ones I can remember.

But our first responders have been amazing—working through the night as search-and-rescue teams ensure that everyone is safe. Thankfully, no deaths have been reported. It will take time to restore power throughout Ridgecrest, and it will take even more time to assess all the damage. I have been on the ground working with local officials and the Governor’s office, and we are fighting for Kern County to get the response and recovery aid that we need.

In the meantime, check on your friends and neighbors, make a plan for any more tremors that may come, and visit any of the locations below if you have a serious health or safety need.
