Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on House passage of H.R. 4557, the Blocking Regulatory Interference from Closing Kilns (BRICK) Act:

“The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is trying to stonewall brickmakers with a legally questionable regulation. Many in the brick industry have challenged this rule as being too much too fast. To keep the brick industry—and the American jobs it creates—from crumbling, Congress acted to extend compliance deadlines until the courts have an opportunity to weigh the legal impacts of the regulation. With this legislation, Representative Bill Johnson (OH-06) is ensuring the bureaucracy doesn’t hold back an important part of America’s economy. We cannot let the EPA reduce to rubble an industry that creates the literal building blocks of our communities.”
