Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on House passage of H.R. 1180, the Working Families Flexibility Act:

“Working families need flexibility. After all, when an unforeseen injury or family emergency comes up, people need to be able to take time off without completely disrupting their lives or losing out on that much-needed paycheck. A great way to help jobs work for people instead of merely making people work their jobs is to give people the choice to trade their overtime pay for comp time that they can use down the road when they need it. Not only will this increase productivity and morale, it will also strengthen our communities and put the needs of workers first. Back in 1978, Congress gave government employees this deal, so giving the same choice to workers in the private sector is only fair. Representative Martha Roby (AL-02) has spent time listening to her constituents and everyone across this country who wants more flexibility. Her legislation is just another way House Republicans are listening to and helping America’s working families.”
