Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on House passage of H.R. 1295, the Trade Preferences Extension Act:

“With the passage of the Trade Preferences Extension Act, the final piece of the free trade puzzle is in place, and Congress now has a greater seat at the table to ensure the best possible trade deals to benefit American families, consumers, workers, and businesses. Getting to this point took a strong bipartisan effort, and I want to express my gratitude for the leadership of Ways and Means Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (WI-01) and Subcommittee on Trade Chairman Pat Tiberi (OH-12) to get this across the finish line. Free trade has profound positive benefits for the American economy, and with Trade Promotion Authority, America will have strong footing to shape the global economy and increase ties with our allies across the world. This is a big win for America, and I look forward to the economic growth and opportunities that increased free trade will bring.”
