Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) spoke at a Republican leadership press conference today, highlighting the House’s pro-growth budget proposal.

McCarthy’s remarks are below, or watch them online here.

“Well, good morning and Happy Saint Patrick’s Day to all.

“I want to touch on a couple quick topics. First and foremost, you’ll see this week that we unveil our budget. I want to give the President credit when I can, and I want to thank the President. For the very first time in his Presidency, he submitted a budget on time. The unfortunate part, and the contrast that you’ll see, his budget never balances. Doesn’t balance in ten, doesn’t balance in a hundred years. You’ll see that the new American Congress, the Republican budget will balance in less than ten years. It will put America on a different track and a different path.

“You’ll also see further this week that we will have bills protecting employees, increasing transparency, and reforming government.

“Now, being what I’d consider the lone Irish in leadership, my father always believed on every day to give you an Irish blessing. My favorite Irish blessing, not only to you and to the American public: ‘May the road rise up to meet your feet. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine softly upon your face, and the rain fall soft in the field. And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of [His] hand.’

“Happy Saint Patrick’s Day.”
