Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on House passage of S. 204, the Trickett Wendler, Frank Mongiello, Jordan McLinn, and Matthew Bellina Right to Try Act:

“Americans don’t give up hope. We try and we try and we try until we succeed. So there is nothing more disheartening then when patients facing life-threatening illnesses are told they don’t even have the right to try a potentially life saving cure. Giving up isn’t who we are. This legislation is a testament to the great will of the American people. It confirms that deep American belief that as long as there is will, there is hope. Today, people who were told they didn’t have a chance can now have a little more hope. Thanks to Representatives Andy Biggs and Brian Fitzpatrick for their leadership and relentless advocacy on this issue.”
