Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on House passage of H.R. 4712, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act:

“Failing to protect children born alive—even after a failed abortion attempt—is infanticide. There is no excuse for it. Nobody has the right to kill a living, breathing, newborn baby. I am frankly astounded that so many Democrat representatives would cast a vote to allow the killing of newborn children. But as a body, the House cannot allow this to continue. We just voted to save lives, end this barbaric practice, and hold criminally accountable any doctor or abortionist that takes the life of a living, newborn child.”
