Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on Chairman Jeff Miller’s (FL-01) decision to not seek reelection:

“Jeff entered Congress shortly after 9/11, and the defense of our country and well-being of our armed forces has always been his highest priority. He is a man of great integrity who always worked with a mission and held firm to his convictions and principles, whether it was reforming the Department of Veterans Affairs in the midst of a terrible scandal as Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, ensuring our military remained the best fighting force in the world on the House Armed Services Committee, or proudly making sure the voices and interests of his communities and constituents were heard in Washington. Jeff’s announcement leaves a huge void in the House, and his advice to me will be sorely missed. Judy and I wish him and his wife Vicki all the best and thank them for their service to our veterans, the great state of Florida, and our country.”
