Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) spoke with Maria Bartiromo on FOX Business this morning, discussing the House’s focus on policy ideas to overcome the challenges facing America:

On the House’s tax forces to create more opportunity for all:

“We’re walking through these task forces today on all these policies [to] have a complete agenda before you go into the convention, which we’ve been working on all year…. We’ll have tax reform, you’ll see, because you’ve got to have growth. You’ve had 2 percent or less for the last eight years, that’s why the middle class is actually earning less today and [is] more frustrated. You’ve got to have growth.”

On the new Innovation Initiative:

“Innovation is so important in America, it keeps us ahead of everywhere else. I will tell you, I’m from California. I don’t represent Silicon Valley, but I go there often…. Think, in 2010, when Republicans took the majority, Uber had three cars. But today they are worth more than 60 billion dollars—more than Ford, more than Honda. We need to have this innovation brought to government. Could you imagine? In 1930s, the VA was created, they took your disability by pencil, we got air-conditioning by a fan, and our news by radio. Today we get our news by our phones, we get central air, but they’re still writing down disability claims. What if we brought innovation? It would be more efficient, more effective, and more accountable.”
