Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on the FBI’s investigation into Secretary Hillary Clinton’s email practices:

“What Director Comey’s statements made clear was that Hillary Clinton’s decision to use a personal unsecured server to send work-related emails while service as Secretary of State—including classified information—was extremely irresponsible. Despite Secretary Clinton’s claim that she did not send classified emails on her personal unsecured server, the FBI found over one hundred emails that contained classified content at the time they were sent and received, refuting explanations that she previously gave. Perhaps most notably, the FBI could not rule out the possibility that foreign powers or hostile actors accessed Secretary Clinton’s emails.

“Every investigation thus far makes one conclusion abundantly clear: Secretary Clinton’s fundamental lack of judgment and wanton disregard for protecting and keeping information confidential raises continued questions about the exposure of our nation’s diplomatic and national security secrets.”
