Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on House passage of a surface transportation funding extension:
“While the House acted today to ensure there is available funding for critical infrastructure projects through the next two months, this legislation is not the ideal solution. In recent weeks, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid led many Democrats to choose disruption over cooperation on traditionally bipartisan infrastructure policies. Because of that, we were only able to pass a two-month patch and may be forced to yet another short-term patch in the future. This short-term patch will only allow projects to continue and keep workers on the job through July.
“House Republicans will continue to work to end this unnecessary cliff, and we call on our Democrat colleagues to stop politicizing the process so we can make real progress.”
