Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on the Representative Westmoreland’s (GA-03) announcement that he will retire:

“Lynn’s decision to retire is truly a loss to our Conference, to this institution, and most importantly, to the people of Georgia’s 3rd District. They have been represented by a man of honor and dignity who has always fought for their district and their principles. While making his mark as a member of the Financial Services Committee as well as the Select Committee on Intelligence, Lynn has always been known for his commonsense and his unwavering candor, insisting that policies and legislation speak true to the conservative principles that will strengthen our great nation. Personally, I will miss Lynn for his friendship, his advice, and his dry sense of humor, but I wish the best to Lynn and Joan when they begin the next chapter of their lives later this year.”
