Washington, D.C. – House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) joined Maria Bartiromo on “Mornings with Maria” to discuss ongoing border security negotiations.

Excerpts of Leader McCarthy’s interview can be found below, or you can watch the full video here.

“You know what I find immoral – when you really talk about this, this is about stopping human trafficking. In 2016, they stopped more than 2,000 individuals involved in that – I think it’s immoral that you would allow that to continue. I don’t believe anybody in America that says they support border security believes that there is no such thing as some barrier.”

“It’s such a little price to pay for so much more security when you look at the human trafficking. Think of the number of lives we will save from this process if we have a secure border. More importantly, it’s the President that sat down and tried to be reasonable, find common ground. He’s the one who brought DACA into it. And let’s not forget Speaker Pelosi just a year ago holds the record for the longest speech on the floor, eight hours, over one issue, DACA, which she shut the government down over. Now she thinks that’s not important?”

“What’s so interesting to me – I listened to these Democrats celebrate Nancy Pelosi. You celebrated someone that got you status quo. There’s still a DACA problem, there’s still a border security problem. And government is designed to find common ground and compromise. The President was the one person looking reasonable in all these discussions. I know the president’s committed to this. He will get the border secure one way or another.”
