Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on North Korea’s rocket launch:

“This rocket launch is just the latest in a series of provocative actions by North Korea that the Administration has failed to adequately respond to. North Korea has interpreted ‘strategic patience’ as little more than thinly veiled weakness, and they will continue to push until America responds. The House has already passed a bill increasing sanctions on North Korea that the Senate will consider this coming week. The President should sign this bill immediately upon receiving it to send a message that the Kim regime’s actions are unacceptable.”

NOTE: The House passed the North Korea Sanctions Enforcement Act (H.R. 757) by a bipartisan vote of 418-2 on January 12, 2016.
