Washington D.C. – House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement regarding House passage of Federal Agriculture Reform and Risk Management Act of 2013 (H.R. 2642):

“Today, House Republicans acted to provide certainty to America’s farmers for the next several years while saving billions of dollars by instituting market-based reforms to end direct government payments and placing limits on taxpayer exposure. America’s agricultural industry works every day to feed our families and grow our economy. Federal agricultural policies are designed to help ensure Americans have access to affordable, plentiful, and safe food grown in the United States, and this bill makes important reforms to update these programs while saving taxpayer dollars. I commend Chairman Lucas and the Members of the Agriculture Committee for their dedicated and passionate work on this issue.”
