Washington D.C. – House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement regarding House passage of the ENFORCE the Law Act (H.R. 4138) and the Faithful Execution of the Law Act (H.R. 3973):

“Our Framers established a system of a democratic government that is designed to ensure that each branch is able to check and balance the powers of their co-equal branches, to ensure the protection of our freedom, liberty, and rule of law. Unfortunately, this Administration has unilaterally interpreted or enforced the law as it sees fit. The President has rewritten his own healthcare law through the rulemaking process. He has also delayed key provisions of the law from taking effect – all without Congressional approval. This week, the House passed important legislation that will require the President to execute and uphold the laws of this country, and to empower Congress with critical tools to see that he does. I want to thank Congressman Trey Gowdy (SC-4) for his articulate leadership on this issue, as well as Chairman Bob Goodlatte (VA-6) and Congressman Ron DeSantis (FL-6) for their hard work on this crucial legislation.”
