Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on the Obama Administration’s power plant emissions rule:

“With the release of the finalized emission rules for power plants, the Obama Administration is focused on cementing its radical environmental agenda at the expense of the American people. This rule will be too costly, unachievable, and would place potentially billions of added costs on the backs of working and middle class Americans across the country. Building on this rule’s draft, the Administration has doubled down on its war on abundant and affordable energy by also turning away from natural gas as a reliable and clean power source.  It wasn’t long ago that President Obama himself was championing natural gas as a positive for the American economy and consumer. To the President, appeasing a fringe environmental movement has overtaken the more responsible path to grow our economy. Because of this Administration’s policies, the American people are working fewer hours than they want for less pay than they want in an economy that continues to stumble. This rule will hit the American people when they’re already down, and the House will consider every option possible to fight it.”
