Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on President Trump’s signing of the National Defense Authorization Act:

“Today, President Trump signed a bill that will make America safer. This defense bill authorizes money for our troops, for our national defense and homeland security, and to make sure America has the best technology in the world to protect ourselves. This bill passed the House 356 to 70, including more than half of the Democratic caucus. It passed the Senate by voice vote—not a single Democrat opposed it.

“Now that we’ve all agreed to authorize funding for our military, it’s time to actually allocate those funds. I can only hope that the Democrats who worked with Republicans and with President Trump to authorize funding to keep America safe won’t turn their back on our troops now and block that money from being spent. This is no time for Washington games. President Trump’s signature on this bill is a big step to making America safe. Let’s finish the job.”
