Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on House passage of H.R. 2406, the Sportsmen’s Heritage and Recreational Enhancement (SHARE) Act:

“Washington bureaucrats don’t understand that federal lands can be used in multiple ways, preferring instead to restrict Americans from enjoying the country’s natural beauty. By overregulating, these bureaucrats do a lot of damage to our fishermen, shooters, and outdoor enthusiasts, stopping perfectly legal and safe outdoor activities.

“As a Californian from a district where nature has so much to offer, I take a different view. Public lands are for the public, and Washington regulations should enable access, not stop it. Representative Rob Wittman’s (VA-01) bill sets things straight by protecting our rights while putting an end to the unnecessary restrictions on federal lands.”
