Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on Chairman Bob Goodlatte’s (VA-06) decision to retire from the House:

“Bob has done a great service to his country and to the people of western Virginia during his time in the House. He has been a hardworking chairman of two committees, a voice of principle and pragmatism, and a good friend. While we’re going to miss him, he deserves every bit of extra time he’ll have with his family and in the next endeavor he pursues. I wish he and his wife, Maryellen, every blessing during Bob’s final year of service in the House and in all the great things they have to come.”
