Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on House passage of H.R. 4901, the Scholarships for Opportunity and Results (SOAR) Reauthorization Act:

“Since its inception in 2004, The D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program has had an amazing track record of successfully providing educational opportunity. During the 2014-2015 school year, nearly 90 percent of 12th graders who received an Opportunity Scholarship graduated and 88 percent went on to pursue a college degree. It has effectively showcased that every child who is offered an excellent education regardless of their race, or background can succeed. When parents are empowered to choose what school is best for their kids, and funding properly follows the students instead of schools and unions, it’s the kids and our country who win.”
