Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on House passage of H.R. 3192, the Homebuyers Assistance Act:

“There is something truly American about being able to buy a home and make your own life, and government should never hinder that dream. Smaller lenders and title companies need to have time to understand the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s rulemaking and make a good faith effort to comply without fear of inadvertently violating the law.  Representative French Hill’s (AR-02) bill provides that time so Americans will have the opportunity to realize their American Dream. President Obama has absolutely no reason to veto this bipartisan bill, and he shouldn’t stand in the way of American homebuyers.”
