Washington, D.C. – House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement on House passage of H.R. 692, the Default Prevention Act of 2015:

“It would be irresponsible for the United States to fail to pay its debts. Not only would this increase the cost of future borrowing, it would also signify to the world that America doesn’t stand by its word. When the United States makes promises, it keeps them, which is why the House voted today to avoid the threat of a debt default.”
