Today, White House officials have announced yet another “major speech” by the President on the economy and jobs – coming this September. The White House has promised the proposals will be “fresh ones, and not a rehash.” However, these proposals were all a part of the President’s last Hail Mary economic plan in September of last year.

President Obama’s “New” Economic Plan To Extend Business Tax Credits & Infrastructure Spending. “The president’s plan is likely to contain tax cuts, jobs-boosting infrastructure ideas and steps that would specifically help the long-term unemployed. The official emphasized that all of Obama’s proposals would be fresh ones, not a rehash of plans he has pitched for many weeks and still supports, including his “infrastructure bank” idea to finance construction jobs.” (Ben Feller, “AP Source: Major Obama Jobs Speech After Labor Day,” The Associated Press, 8/17/11)

President’s Plan Also Includes Payroll Tax Holiday. “Obama has discussed some of his jobs ideas during his bus trip, including an extension of the payroll tax holiday, patent reform, development of alternative energy sources, and new infrastructure programs.” (David Jackson, “Obama To Give Job Speech Next Month,” USA Today, 8/17/11)
