It’s bad enough that Democrats in Washington are wedded to a policy of driving up energy taxes that will destroy American jobs and increase prices at the pump. But, now, their new chairwoman, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, is repeating the same misleading talking points on domestic production in an attempt to somehow defend the President’s record on gas prices.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz On Gas Prices Doubling Under President Obama: “Domestic Oil Production Is At Its Highest Point In Recent Years. So We’ve Actually Really Concentrated On That.” KILMEADE: “Let’s take a look at the gas prices right now. They went down a little bit overnight. But, for the most part, it’s intolerable for Americans to the point where they’re not even driving as much. That is what drove the gas prices down. But when he [President Obama] took office, it was $1.83 and now it’s $3.98, $4. How does he battle that?” … WASSERMAN SCHULTZ: “Like I said, domestic oil production is at its highest point in recent years. So we’ve actually really concentrated on that.” (Fox News’ “Fox & Friends,” 5/6/11)

But independent sources have repeatedly debunked these talking points, noting that any current increase in production is “due to action taken before he [President Obama] became president.”
