Washington D.C. – House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy released the following statement regarding passage of the Success and Opportunity through Quality Schools Act (H.R. 10):

“Education remains one of the greatest keys to success in our society, yet there are children across the nation without access to a good school. There is no single cure. No child or community is the same. And often the educational solutions in one community won’t fit those in another. But there are local solutions, such as charter schools, already working across the nation.

“We have an obligation to expand educational opportunities and school choice so that every child has the chance to attend a successful school. Education transcends political boundaries, and this House will continue to work toward solutions to ensure the next generation, no matter their circumstance, is afforded every opportunity for a better future.

“The Success and Opportunity Through Quality Charter Schools Act supports choice, innovation, and excellence in education through the start-up, expansion, and replication of successful charter schools, and I applaud my colleagues, George Miller and Education and the Workforce Chairman John Kline, for bringing Republicans and Democrats together on this important legislation.”
